Believe and mahe believe
Political usages of belief

Belief has not disappeared from our democratic societies, subject as they are to the relativity of individual opinions, the spread of a model of critical citizenship and the logics of scientific knowledge. Through its imaginative and symbolic power, it remains a decisive cog in the wheel of the social order, and therefore of the political order.

Ideologies are still active, for example, but they are divided, compartmentalised, through a mosaic of references, standards and objectives.

This is the advantage of the multidisciplinary perspective of this volume. Drawing on philosophy, history, art history, political science, sociology, image analysis, the authors question the political usages of individual and collective belief.

Exploring fields such as science, prayer, human rights, populism, jihadism, Republican values, political communication, filiation, memory, repression, the repertoires of young people's involvement and so forth, they shed light on the norms and values that allow us to believe and make others believe in the contemporary world.

Temps et politique
Les recompositions de l'identité
Time and Politics
Identity Reconfiguration
Anne Muxel
Including contributions from sociologists, political scientists, philosophers, historians and psychologists on the subject of our increasingly labile political identities, this volume highlights how politics are shaped by time, whether the collective time of generations, or, more personally speaking, the stages of life.

La vie privée des convictions
Politique, affectivité, intimité
The Private Lives of our Beliefs
Politics, Emotions, and Intimacy
Anne Muxel
It is necessary to share someone's ideas in order to love or appreciate them? This book illustrates the constant interweaving of our private lives with our political beliefs. The authors invite us to see politics through the prism of our private lives, thus allowing us to explore other ways to understand the politicisation of individuals.

La politique au fil de l'âge
Politics and age
Anne Muxel
Revolutionary at 20, conservative at 60: is there truth in this old adage? Do our political attitudes change as we age? This work gives light to the ties between age, generation, life cycle and our political lives.

Comment les électeurs font-ils leur choix ?
Le Panel électoral français 2007
How the voters make their choice ?
French Electoral Panel 2007
Bruno Cautrès, Anne Muxel
In following the behavior of the same voters over the long term, during and after the election, this electoral panel study afforded the opportunity to trace the course of the vote and in so doing, to better understand the dynamics of an election.

Les Étudiants de Sciences Po

Sciences po Students
Their ideas, values, political cultures
Anne Muxel

The disruptive vote
The presidential and legislative elections of 2017

A process of creative destruction of a rare intensity swept through the French political system during the 2017 elections, comparable to a devastated battleground. After the storm, now comes the time for analysis and the first research results.

La démocratie de l'entre-soi
Pascal Perrineau, Luc Rouban
In this book, a team of researchers from CEVIPOF suggests that what is "common" is no longer based on what is public, but on what is private. That politics is now evolving in communitarian spaces of all kinds, family, religious denominations, political parties, oligarchies...
