Jamais les hommes n'ont été aussi nombreux en Méditerranée. Ces évolutions, très contrastées entre les rives, engendrent des défis économiques, sociaux et démographiques qui concernent directement les mondes agricoles et ruraux.
HOMMES ET PRODUCTIONS
Les paysans, qui ont façonné ce berceau de l'agriculture, ont vu leur activité évoluer et se transformer au fil de l'histoire. En ce début de XXIe siècle, quels sont les atouts et les traits majeurs des productions et des exploitations méditerranéennes ?
SE NOURRIR, BIEN SE NOURRIR !
Alors que la diète méditerranéenne est mondialement reconnue pour ses qualités nutritionnelles et sa convivialité, les insécurités alimentaires demeurent d'actualité, et la malnutrition, qui progresse, doit nous préoccuper tout autant.
LES MÉDITERRANÉES
La Méditerranée fut de tout temps un espace de déplacements des hommes, des idées et des marchandises. N'est-il pas temps de construire aujourd’hui un espace de coopération où l’agriculture, le développement durable et l’alimentation joueraient un rôle essentiel ?
CONTRASTES TERRITORIAUX
Trop souvent encore la Méditerranée des villes s’oppose à la Méditerranée des campagnes. Sans développement équilibré des territoires, il ne peut y avoir de développement durable, ni de cohésion sociale, ni même de « vivre ensemble » entre les rives.
ESPACES ET RESSOURCES
Unique au monde, l’espace méditerranéen impressionne par sa diversité et sa richesse. Mais il inquiète aussi par ses fragilités croissantes : aridité, dégradation des sols, littoralisation appellent des réponses fortes, rapides et concertées.
PÊCHE ET AQUACULTURE
Route naturelle offerte aux embarcations, « la mer au milieu des terres » est l’une des plus anciennes pêcheries du monde. La croissance de la demande a poussé les Méditerranéens vers d’autres mers et vers le développement de l’aquaculture.
MÉDITERRANÉE ET MONDIALISATION
La Méditerranée se projette dans le monde, et le monde en Méditerranée. Dans un monde globalisé où les espaces régionaux sont confortés comme lieux d’échanges et de régulations, la coopération euro-méditerranéenne s’annonce comme une étape nouvelle d’une histoire millénaire.
