Cet ouvrage plonge en son coeur, celui de la parole performative: celle par qui les mots instituent ou destituent, nomment, convoquent, déclarent, racontent ou taisent.</p> <P> De 1958 à 2007, le discours élyséen va changer de nature linguistique en changeant de fonction politique, sous la double influence des médias qui transportent le message et de l'institution présidentielle qui le porte. D'abord fait de mots forts et de nature nominale, le discours devient, au détour des années 1980, pronominal et verbal. La forme l'emporte désormais sur le fond, et le dit s'efface au profit du dire. L'énonciation abolit l'énoncé et le logos laisse la place à l'ethos. Le « je » des présidents se substitue au « peuple », et leur « moi » à la « France ». Le leader remplace l’idée.
