Lola Zappi is a lecturer at Université Paris-1 and member of the Centre d'histoire sociale des mondes contemporains. This book is the result of research that received the PhD prize from the Comité d'histoire de la sécurité sociale as well as the PhD prize in arts and humanities from the Chancellerie des universités de Paris.
