This previously unpublished study in France of an institute of higher education, carried out by CEVIPOF, (Centre for Research on French Politics at Sciences Po) captures the ideas and values of Sciences Po students. They are more politicized than other students and quicker to commit themselves to concrete acts; like other young people they have a negative image of politicians, but they don't challenge the democratic system; they recognize the legitimacy of political institutions and grant a determining role to parties and elections. This is a new generation of young people (the future political elite?), far removed from the stereotypical image they are usually portrayed with, somewhat left wing, pro-European, attached to the nation, and the bearers of values of open-mindedness, respect and social justice.
