This work takes an unconventional form. Two stories comprise the plot : one is of a woman living in a "hard town", the Parisian suburbs, and the other is told by three generations of a “normal" family from the rural world. Through these two tales, the question of the effects of the transformation of French society on personal politics is posed.
In addressing the phenomena of political socialization, the authors put to the test the notions of identity and memory, currently used if not bandied about in public and scientific forums. In empowering the individual context, the authors attempt to understand the types of disinclination and leeway for maneuvering which accompany, moreover, authorize, adaptations and mutations.
