"The Daily Fight for One's Rights" is an ethnographic study of relations between the inhabitants of a densely populated neighborhood and several public services administrations. It brings to light the ambivalent relationships that exist between the residents and the administrative organizations on one hand, and the officials vis à vis their clients on the other. In the context of the general debate on public service reform, city politics and social issues, this study reveals the gap between social realities and the “politics of modernization.”

It is intended for academics and researchers in sociology, political science, ethnography, urbanism, as well as for social workers and local figures in public service and city politics.
