Remontant du "comment" au "pourquoi", les auteurs défrichent un terrain jusqu'ici délaissé comme littéralement "insignifiant" et proposent une approche originale des systèmes et des situations politiques autoritaires. Peut-être ouvrent-ils aussi de nouvelles voies à la sociologie électorale en la débarrassant des limites que lui assigne habituellement la science politique occidentale.
