La République des constitutionnalistes
Professeurs de droit et légitimation de l'État en France (1870-1914)
Law professors and the legitimization of the state in France (1870-1914)
This work retraces the invention of the constitutionalist, this law professor specializing in constitutional policy, appearing in France at the end of the 19th century during the birth of the Republic. It demonstrates how these professors played a crucial role in the advent of the new regime, in its consolidation and its reconsideration, and analyzes the permanent tensions between law and politics solidifying the creation of a constitutional body at the judiciary foundation of our current political system.
In doing this, Guillaume Sacriste reveals an essential, if forgotten, part of French judiciary and constitutional history.
